Help build a more diverse, team-based education workforce that delivers on the promise of deeper and personalized learning for all students.
In schools, the majority of educators are too often left to act alone and navigate the diverse and complex academic and socio-emotional needs of dozens of students. Yet, professionals in other fields — from aerospace to healthcare to software engineering — work on teams. Those teams allow individuals to contribute complementary strengths, knowledge and skills. The distributed expertise of teams allows them to more effectively work toward common goals and better outcomes. What can we learn from them and those building innovative teams in schools? Join us for a 1.5-day virtual summit focused on team-based school staffing models that: 1) provide all students with deeper and personalized learning by building teams of educators with distributed expertise and 2) empower educators by developing better ways to enter the profession, specialize and advance. This fifth annual event is hosted by Arizona State University’s Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College and includes sessions from experts from K–12, research, policy, government, advocacy, nonprofit, edtech and business. Participants will also access networking opportunities, as well as presentations from schools implementing team-based models. Click “RSVP” at the top of the page to register — and help reshape how we staff schools.
Planetary scientist and professor Lindy Elkins-Tanton joins Carole Basile, dean of ASU’s Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College, for a keynote conversation about distributed expertise and innovations in staffing. Dr. Elkins-Tanton is the Principal Investigator of the NASA Psyche mission and vice president of the ASU Interplanetary Initiative. She is also co-founder of Beagle Learning, a tech company focused on training and measuring problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
